Methven is six miles west of Perth, on the road out toward Crieff. We cover the village and the surrounding countryside — houses, cottages, and the outbuildings and farm roofs that come with a rural area.
What makes Methven different from a suburb is what’s around it. A village in the middle of farmland means a lot of roofing that isn’t a house:
Outbuildings, garages, workshops and stores. Often flat-roofed or sheeted, often neglected because they’re not the house, and often the first thing to fail. Old felt, corroded fixings, blocked gutters.
Steadings and barns. Traditional stone buildings with slate or pantile roofs, and modern sheeted agricultural buildings. Several around here have been converted or are being converted to residential use, which brings its own requirements.
Fibre-cement and asbestos sheeting. Common on farm buildings of a certain age. Asbestos: we will identify it and we will not disturb it. Removal is a licensed specialist trade and we’ll refer you to a licensed contractor. Once cleared, we can reroof.
Exposure. Open farmland means wind. Ridge and verge fixings take more punishment here than they do in a sheltered street.
